Scorpion Lodge, Busua

Alberto writes:

I’m a Spanish 27 year old from Barcelona. I travelled this summer to Ghana on my own using the 6th edition Ghana Bradt guide. First of all, thank you for the book as it was my key to discovering the country.

The main reason i’m writing to you is to ask you to add an accommodation place in Busua. I was there for four days and I slept in a place called “Scorpion Lodge” at the west end of the town just passed the metal bridge at the left, in front of the lagoon. My stay there was the best in Ghana. Big and renewed self-contained rooms for around 50Ghc per night (Budget). The lodge has 4 self-contained rooms (Bathroom and shower) and the place is amazing. It’s got direct access to the lagoon at the end of the town and it’s much quieter than staying in the middle of the town just at a 3 minute walk to the taxi station. The lodge is owned by a danish couple but managed by a Ghanian called Mike who was the nicest person I met in Ghana. He helped me a lot and would 100% recommend to go there and be their guests. They serve breakfast and food under demand. It’s chill out place at the beach is the place to be.

I would really appreciate if you could add this place to the guide for the next edition. Mike’s mobile phone is (0209 169888).

I went to Scorpian’s Lodge, following reading the above review, and love it. It is budget and great value for money. The place is in a very quaint location, just tucked up and away from the main beach in the tree tops. The view was beautiful and it was quiet. We had a very large and modern room and paid 50ghs (6 months ago). You can ask anyone, and Taxi drivers if you are coming from near-by towns, to take you there. They know where it is.
Was so happy with our choice of hotel, we loved it.
Directly opposite Scorpian’s Lodge, down and over a mini estuary, you will find a little bar and hide-out that is secluded and looks out over the bay and ocean. They have the regular choice of drinks, lots of reggae music, a bonfire at night and are extremely welcoming and relaxed! I can highly recommend here for an pre or post dinner beverage.
