I’ve just returned to Accra after a weekend in Cape Coast and wanted to send a couple of updates.
We went to Chic Hebbs that is recommended in the guidebook but were very disappointed with the food. My friend (a Ghanaian’s) fufu was the worst he’s ever had and my tilapia was of the salted variety, not fresh, really unpleasant and the jollof rice looked like it had artificial colouring in it. While the lady who owned it was friendly, I would not recommend this place.
We stayed at a guesthouse called Kokodo which isn’t in the guidebook and really loved the place. It’s on the main road out of Cape Coast just after the “Members Club” that has a tennis court. It takes 5 minutes by taxi and costs about 2 cedis. It’s perched on a hill with good views and a really nice terrace and garden area. We didn’t have dinner there but the breakfast was generous and they have proper coffee. It’s run by Jeff a friendly Ghanaian guy whose number is 0244673486.
