Christopher Helm Field Guides has published the first dedicated Field Guide to the Birds of Ghana, by Nik Borrow & Ron Demey. I’ve just received a copy and it looks thoroughly excellent – certainly a major improvement on ant of the existing generic West African or continental guides for those spending any time birding in Ghana (and/or Togo, for which it is also comprehensive). All 758 confirmed resident, migrant and vagrant species are depicted over 145 colour plates, and there are also good descriptions and detailed colour distribution maps for every species.
